Carrick Confirmed as Man Utd Manger

Manchester United has announced signing Michael Carrick as permanent manager of the club for the next two years.

Carrick joined the Red Devils in January as an interim coach and won the manager of the month after winning his first two games against Manchester City and Arsenal.

The 44-year-old has also successfully led the team into the next season's UEFA Champions League having ended third place in the Premier League with victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday. 

The former Middlesbrough boss won 11 of his 16 games since he took charge of United and has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season Award. 

Carrick said, “From the moment that I arrived here 20 years ago, I felt the magic of Manchester United.

“Carrying the responsibility of leading our special football club fills me with immense pride.

“Throughout the past five months, this group of players have shown they can reach the standards of resilience, togetherness and determination that we demand here.

“Now it’s time to move forward together again, with ambition and a clear sense of purpose. Manchester United and our incredible supporters deserve to be challenging for the biggest honours again.”

Michael Carrick played 464 games for United, wining five Premier League titles, FA Cup, two League clubs and a UEFA Europa League.
