Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that President John Dramani Mahama will officially launch the country’s first electronic visa (e-Visa) service on Monday May, 25, 2026 to mark Africa Day.
The Minister disclosed this in a Facebook post on Friday, May 22, describing the move as a major step towards achieving digital transformation in travel and tourism.
The minister noted that the initiative will foster faster, simpler and more accessible traveling to other countries and easy for international visitors.
“President Mahama set to launch Ghana’s first e-Visa service on Africa Day — Monday May 25, 2026. Ghana’s warm digital handshake with the world,” he posted.
The North Tongu MP also disclosed that Africans traveling to the country will not be required to pay visa fees under the new initiative, making the arrangement a part of Ghana’s broader efforts for African integration.
“Africans will not pay visa fees. Ghana is certainly open for business & tourism,” he added.

Speaking in an interview on 3Music TV’s Culture Daily show on Thursday, May 21, the singer said she packed her bags overnight and informed her father she was travelling to Nigeria to chase her dream.
