As a tribute to his enduring legacy, the government of Burkina Faso has named a street in honour of the late former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings. The symbolic gesture highlights Rawlings’ influential role in promoting development, pan-African solidarity, and regional cooperation across Sub-Saharan Africa.

The newly named street stands as a testament to the profound respect Rawlings commanded beyond Ghana’s borders, particularly for his efforts in championing African unity and good governance. During his years in office and after, Rawlings was widely regarded as a key figure in shaping progressive discourse and building diplomatic bridges across West Africa.
Officials in Burkina Faso praised the former Ghanaian leader for his dedication to justice, peace, and the upliftment of the African continent. The naming ceremony was attended by dignitaries, local officials, and members of the Ghanaian community in Burkina Faso.
This recognition adds to the growing list of honours bestowed on Rawlings since his passing in November 2020, further cementing his status as a respected African statesman.
