Afrobeats superstar Davido has announced a strategic partnership with Spiro, Africa’s leading electric vehicle company, to launch his own line of electric bikes. This collaboration aims to empower motorcycle riders and promote sustainable transportation across the continent.
In his announcement, Davido emphasized the significance of motorcycles in Africa’s economy, noting that over 27 million motorcycles support the livelihoods of many, with 80% of riders depending on them for their daily income. He acknowledged the crucial role these riders, often referred to as “Okada” drivers, have played in promoting his music throughout Nigeria and Africa. Through this partnership, Davido aims to give back to this community by providing eco-friendly transportation solutions and financial empowerment opportunities.
Spiro has been at the forefront of transforming mobility in Africa, deploying over 22,000 electric bikes and facilitating more than 300 million kilometers of emission-free travel. The company’s innovative battery-swapping technology allows riders to exchange batteries swiftly at designated stations, ensuring efficiency and convenience.
Davido expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Manifestation is spiritual. Years ago, I claimed 30 BG, but it wasn’t just about success – it was about purpose. Today, I’m transforming that vision into something bigger: generational wealth and ownership.”
This initiative reflects a broader vision of fostering generational wealth, ownership, and sustainable development within Africa. By aligning with Spiro, Davido is not only championing environmental sustainability but also creating economic opportunities for millions of Africans who rely on motorcycles for their daily income.
