iconic voices of blessedly talented women whose music has inspired generations
and defined an era of spirit-filled worship. Among these remarkable figures
stand Diana Hopeson, a legendary songstress and industry leader whose influence
extends far beyond the microphone.
Diana Hopeson reflects on her remarkable three–decade
journey, her impact on gospel music, her leadership in Ghana’s creative space
and the evolution of the industry she helped shape. The discussion offers a
heartfelt look into her faith, resilience and legacy.
Speaking with grace and candour, she recalls how she got married at 20 and how her debut album marked the beginning of a defining chapter in her life.
She recounts her early years in music, her relationships with fellow musicians, and her introduction to ministry. Her warmth and humility light up the studio, making Culture Daily’s Big Conversation both lively and inspiring.

The mood shifts as she reveals a lesser–known chapter
of her story, falling into debt at just 21, after releasing her first album
without a proper understanding of music business.
“…we just
landed in the industry without knowledge, we realized that this is capital
intensive and we didn’t have all that money…” she mentions, further noting how
monies spent were not made back also because she was a new artiste and people
were unwilling to buy copies.
Yet, from that early setback comes a story of growth
and transformation. Diana shares how her second album becomes a turning point,
an evidence of hard work, faith and the lessons learned from her earlier
struggles. She describes how she approached her craft with renewed seriousness
and credits her husband for making her feel like a star in his own way.
