Ghanaian DJ collective DMI comprising DJ Isoe, DJ Mish and DJ Dennys recently sat down with Afi and Zuu on the Stay By Plan podcast to share insights into their journey, the formation of their group and their perspective on the music industry in Ghana and Nigeria.

During the conversation, the DJs reflected on how they first started DJing and the experiences that led them to form a collective. They highlighted the importance of teamwork and camaraderie in building a brand as DJs in Ghana.

The group also discussed the differences between the Ghanaian and Nigerian music markets. According to them, there is a noticeable gap in distribution efforts in Ghana, with limited legwork done to push music compared to the Nigerian industry. They praised the intentionality of Nigerian artistes and teams in ensuring their music reaches wider audiences, noting this as a potential area of growth for Ghanaian music stakeholders.

On the podcast, DMI also spoke about their recent musical collaborations. They discussed their track PANTANG, which features popular artistes Lil Shaker, Kwesi Arthur and Kojo Cue, highlighting their efforts to fuse different sounds and create music that resonates across the West African music landscape.

The episode offered fans a rare glimpse into DMI’s creative process, their aspirations for the Ghanaian music scene and their take on the collaborative potential between Ghanaian and Nigerian artistes.
