Ghanaian artiste Drupz made an exciting appearance on 3Music TV's 3hread Special to discuss his return to the music scene and his latest release, GODFATHER. Marking his comeback, Drupz described the track as a bold statement to his fans, emphasizing that every ghetto youth is a star and can achieve what they believe in. He reinforced the notion that while one can leave the ghetto, the spirit of the ghetto remains, driving ambition and success.
Talking about the creative process behind GODFATHER, Drupz revealed that the beat, Dutty Money Rhythm by Russian, caught his attention online. Recognizing its potential, especially since it had been blessed by dancehall icon Vybz Kartel, Drupz felt it was the perfect choice for his return. Although the song carries a similar positive message as his previous work, it stands out as a declaration of his determination to achieve his dreams. He believes the song offers motivation and inspiration for the youth, urging them to persevere in their hustle, with the assurance that "Jah will bless your hustle" at the right time.
Drupz credited his bandmate, Nii Music, for recording the track, and Fortune DJ for mixing and mastering it. He also spoke about the evolution of his music, highlighting how he constantly strives to improve and better represent his origins, especially in GODFATHER, where he proudly references "Sekunde Abrantie" which means Gentleman of Sekondi which is where Drupz hails from. Drupz’s music often blends local sounds with international influences, reflecting his journey and growth as an artiste.
The visual concept of GODFATHER was designed to depict a true African leader, bringing together the lyrics, sound, and vision of the song. Drupz proudly shared that the track has already garnered 10k streams on Audiomack, with plans to continue promoting it to reach its full potential. He concluded the interview by offering advice to the youth, encouraging them to never stop trying, as they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
