Dancehall and highlife performer, Epixode has disclosed that he was raised by his aunt and was unaware of the identity of his birth mother for a long time.
The musician revealed in an interview on May 28, 2026, that he stayed with his aunt who is his mother’s identical twin.
He said his mother abandoned him at the age of six months to pursue her musical career.
He claimed that because his mother was a member of one of the largest bands in Germany at the time, she had to travel and go on tour because the band had multiple summer shows.
"They were on tour. Most of the time, it was during the summer when there were a lot of gigs, and at that time they had one of the biggest bands in Germany, so she had to leave me for her tour," he said.
The Atia hitmaker went on to say that because he was unable to distinguish between the twins, he thought his aunt was actually his mother from the time he was six months old until he was around sixteen.
"I only knew her through videotapes that were sent, and I knew my mother as my aunt. Until I was about 16 years old, I couldn't tell the difference between the twins. My mother was a twin, so I couldn't distinguish between them," he explained.
Speaking about his future musical endeavors, Epixode revealed that he has been working on an album for nearly two years but is still polishing it before releasing it.
He stated that the majority of the tracks are influenced by Highlife sounds from the 1960s and 1970s and clarified that the project is a live-recorded CD that demands meticulous attention to detail.
