The highly anticipated first trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 has officially dropped, offering fans a brutal, action-packed look at the next installment in the hit video game-inspired franchise.

The trailer introduces Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, the brash movie star and fan-favorite character making his cinematic debut in the rebooted Mortal Kombat universe. The footage teases his recruitment into Earthrealm’s battle against Outworld, with plenty of bone-crushing action, fatalities, and signature moves.

Returning characters like Sonya Blade, Liu Kang, Jax, and Sub-Zero are back in action, joined by new faces including Kitana, Jade, Sindel, Baraka, and Noob Saibot. Fans also get their first glimpse of Shao Kahn, the powerful ruler of Outworld, who raises the stakes for the deadly tournament.

The film, directed by Simon McQuoid, promises a sequel that’s even more explosive than its 2021 predecessor, with a darker tone, faster pacing, and moments of dark humor. The trailer ends with a rapid montage of fatalities, paying homage to the franchise’s iconic and over-the-top violence.

Mortal Kombat 2 is set to hit theaters worldwide on October 24, 2025.
