The 2025 Creators Awards & Festival has once again delivered a defining moment for Ghana’s digital space and this year, the spotlight shines brightest on Headless YouTuber, who took home the prestigious Creator of the Year award.

The win marks a powerful milestone for the anonymous-now-unmasked creator who has reshaped how storytelling, commentary and digital engagement operate in Ghana. Known for his faceless videos, sharp humour, fast-paced editing and community-driven approach, Headless YouTuber has become one of the most influential voices in the online ecosystem.

But behind the screen and the clever animations lies the man now publicly acknowledged as Kula Ghanaian rapper and former YFM Accra presenter. His identity, revealed after years of intentional anonymity, adds even more depth to this year’s biggest creator win.

Kula, born Frederick Mattey, shared that he launched the channel in 2021 during a challenging period in his life, after spending ten years navigating the highs and lows of the music industry. The Headless brand has become one of Ghana’s most recognisable digital platforms, built purely on creativity, consistency and audience trust.

Before his YouTube success, Kula was already a respected figure in Ghanaian music. He won the TGMA Unsung Category in 2019, his name remained synonymous with resilience, sharp lyricism and relentless ambition qualities that now echo through his work as a creator.

This year’s Creator of the Year win is more than just a trophy. It represents a full-circle moment; an artiste evolving, adapting and finding new meaning in storytelling. Now that his identity is public, Kula is stepping into an expansive new chapter. He has announced plans to extend his content beyond the Headless YouTuber brand, including a podcast, interviews and fresh multi-format projects aimed at connecting more deeply with his audience.

As the Creators Awards & Festival celebrates five years of spotlighting Ghana’s digital excellence, Headless YouTuber’s victory stands as a testament to innovation, reinvention and the endless possibilities within the creator economy.
