''I Didn't Want You Dead" Burna Boy Addresses AKA's Demise In A Song
AKA & BURNA BOY

Burna Boy finally addresses AKA's passing in a song, " I didn’t want you dead" in a snippet of a song he posted on his Instagram.  In a song he recorded, Burna Boy has reacted and said; "WTF is all of that about/ I just heard he died, seen that video at that restaurant/ Took me out of a positive mood/ Took me back to that day when you saw my [   ] and you said I was wild/ Then I told you you should have one too/ Cuz it weren’t like niggaz wasn’t dying but I thought you knew/ And I ain’t really fuck wit you."

CCTV footage of AKA's assassination has gone viral around the world! The footage plainly shows the rapper hugging and conversing with his former manager and friend Tibz moments before they are both shot dead.

The two musicians have not seen eye to eye over the past few years which resulted in an exchange on twitter. This dates back to 2019, when the South African rapper tweeted in a rage following South Africa's defeat to Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Although since deleted, Burna Boy shared thoughts about AKA's comments saying that he knew the rapper was retarded but he did not know it had gotten this bad. He cautioned the rapper to have a bigger security detail the next time they meet and proceeded to swear on his best friend's (Gambo) grave.

Before that, things were looking up between the two. Burna Boy was major after releasing his first album, L.I.F.E, on Aristokrat Records in 2013. As he continued to make waves with singles like Don Gorgon in 2014, he became a South African fixation.

Rapper AKA was one of the first to accept him. They were inseparable for a brief moment. At one time, Nigerians joked that Burna Boy had turned South African. They collaborated on music and appeared on the following songs AKA's ALL EYES ON ME.  This was the sixth tune and highly publicized sixth single from AKA's sophomore album, LEVELS, during a rush of international collaborations between African acts.

While AKA was already gaining popularity in Nigeria with songs like VICTORY LAP, ALL I KNOW, JEALOUSY, and a remix of Ice Prince's N WORD, this song cemented his place in Nigeria's mainstream. It was a big success, earning the best collaboration award at the All Africa Music Awards in 2015. The song sparked additional collaborations between Nigerian acts and AKA. Sarkodie brought them together on SPECIAL SOMEONE after AKA utterly shredded a remix of N WORD by Ice Prince.

The debate over whether ALL EYES ON ME or SPECIAL SOMEONE was bigger or better continues to this day. While AKA and Sarkodie performed admirably, the song was all about Burna's hook.
