Ghanaian rapper Yaw Tog has officially hinted for the
first time about his upcoming EP titled TOGCITY, marking the start of a bold
new era in his career. The revelation came during his Big Conversation
interview on the Culture Daily morning show where the young star opens up about
life after leaving Empire, his creative growth and his next big move.
Set for release on October 17, TOGCITY features seven
tracks including collaborations with Stonebwoy on MIRACLE and DarkoVibes on
CITY BOY. Other titles include EMPTY SEATS, SCARY MONEY, SIKA NE MMA and WONKO
MENKO, with four music videos already completed ahead of the rollout.
Yaw Tog described the project as “not just a place,
but a state of mind built with pain, anger, rage, disappointment and a whole
lot.” He emphasized that TOG CITY is deeply personal and represents a defining
point in his evolution as both an artiste and an independent brand.
Having parted ways with Empire, Yaw Tog revealed that
going independent has been a challenge but one that gives him freedom and
ownership.
“It’s a crazy journey. You have to raise everything by
yourself capital, budget, everything. But I like to be in control.”, he
divulged.
To strengthen his new direction, he announced a fresh
executive partnership with One RPM and executive producer C. Panta, who is
based in Germany. The duo is spearheading his creative and strategic rollout.
He also credited Stonebwoy as a major inspiration for
his new mindset:
“You see the work that Stone is doing, that’s the part
I see myself. It’s not easy to be doing live performances and traveling out to
connect with the fanbase outside. These things motivate me to also go out there
with my brand.”
With TOGCITY, Yaw Tog is positioning himself as more
than just the breakout kid from SORE. He has evolved into an independent
powerhouse, taking charge of his narrative, sound and future.
