The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has cautioned the public, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and prospective bidders to disregard fraudulent publications and fake contract award notices circulating in its name.
In a press statement signed by its Corporate Affairs Department, the Fund said it had observed with concern that some individuals and groups were spreading misleading information about supposed GETFund contract opportunities and procurement engagements in an attempt to defraud unsuspecting people.
GETFund stressed that the publications were false, unauthorized, and did not originate from the fund, clarifying that it does not directly award works contracts to contractors.
According to the statement, GETFund rather allocates projects to coordinating councils after receiving parliamentary approval and requests from stakeholders, including heads of institutions, Members of Parliament, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), among others.
“The public is hereby advised that any individual, contractor, supplier, consultant, or organization that engages with persons behind such fraudulent publications does so at their own risk and will not be dealing with GETFund in any official capacity,” the statement said.
GETFund further noted that it would not be held liable for any financial losses, commitments, or engagements arising from dealings connected to the fake publications or unauthorized procurement claims.
The Fund also disclosed that it is collaborating with the Ghana Police Service and other national security agencies to investigate the matter and bring those behind the alleged fraudulent activities to justice.
It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, communications, publications, or activities linked to the fake contract schemes to the nearest police station or relevant security agency.
GETFund reiterated that all its official procurement processes, contract awards, and public notices are communicated only through authorized and verifiable channels in line with established public procurement laws and procedures.
