Kid Cudi has launched his latest musical chapter with the release of  NEVERLAND, the lead single from his forthcoming album, dropped on May 9, 2025, via Wicked Awesome Records and Republic Records. Announced on April 30, 2025, through social media, Cudi described the track as a heartfelt creation, blending introspective lyrics with a dreamy, melodic soundscape.

The song, featuring lines like “Sailing to our Neverland / We’ll never die, you and I,” explores themes of eternal connection and personal resilience, reflecting Cudi’s signature autobiographical style. Following his 2024 album INSANO (NITRO MEGA), NEVERLAND marks a bold shift, with Cudi promising a fresh sonic direction that has already sparked excitement among fans at exclusive listening events in Los Angeles.

Beyond music, NEVERLAND doubles as an ambitious 11-minute horror-centric music video and short film, set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 7, 2025. Directed by Ti West and produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, the project stars Cudi alongside Kiernan Shipka, Brittany Snow, Haley Joel Osment, Cary Elwes, and Brandon Scott.

The narrative follows a 200-year-old vampire guiding his newly turned lover on her first feed, blending action, horror, and sci-fi elements. Cudi, who co-wrote the script with West, called it a “huge passion project” that offers something “different and something you haven’t seen before.” The film’s debut will be followed by screenings at AMC Theaters, amplifying Cudi’s growing influence in both music and cinema.

The dual release of NEVERLAND as a single and a cinematic venture underscores Cudi’s multifaceted artistry, building on his legacy as a hip-hop innovator and actor. Fans have lauded the track’s emotional depth, with reactions from a recent listening event highlighting its potential to “blow you away.”

Cudi’s collaboration with heavyweights like Peele and West, combined with his hands-on role in the project, signals an ambitious rollout for his untitled album. As he teased on X, “A new chapter, a new era. Let’s step into a new realm,” suggesting that NEVERLAND is just the beginning of a transformative phase for the Cleveland native. With its release coinciding with today’s date, May 9, 2025, the single is now available for streaming, setting the stage for what could be Cudi’s most impactful work yet.
