Ghanaian music sensation and 2025 Artiste of the Year, King Promise, recently paid a nostalgic visit to his boyhood football club, Chelsea FC. The visit saw the chart-topping musician reflecting on the formative influence football has had on his life, even as he continues to dominate the music scene.

During the visit, King Promise spoke candidly about how Ghanaian midfield legend Michael Essien inspired his lifelong loyalty to the Blues.

He also credited French football icon Marcel Desailly with shaping his mindset both on and off the pitch. “Desailly taught me discipline and resilience. Those lessons have followed me into music and life,” King Promise added.

For the artiste, football is far more than a pastime; it is an enduring part of his identity. Despite his busy schedule and rising global fame, he says the sport remains a source of inspiration and grounding.

King Promise’s visit to Stamford Bridge served as a reminder that, for many artistes, their passions extend beyond their craft. In his case, the rhythm of football has been as formative as the rhythm of music.
