Ghanaian music executive and producer, KJ Spio has teamed up with award-winning singer, KiDi for a new single set to drop on Friday, 20th March.
Speaking on Culture Daily, KJ Spio revealed that the song comes with a music video shot in Jamaica, a place he says feels culturally similar to Ghana.
“Jamaica is one of my favourite places. The people, the culture, the food feels just like home,” he said, noting the similarities between Ghanaian and Jamaican traditions.
According to him, the collaboration with KiDi happened naturally after the pair recorded several songs together.
“We probably made about eight or nine songs together. We could have even made an album,” he said. “But we picked our two favourite records to release.”
The video was directed by filmmaker Malena, who also worked on KJ Spio’s previous visual projects. The producer explained that he prefers working with the same creative collaborators because it helps maintain a consistent artistic vision.
Known for investing heavily in visuals, KJ Spio said music videos play a major role in bringing his ideas to life.
“I’m a very visual person. The video helps bring the lyrics and the song to life,” he said.
