Kotoko Relocates to Obuasi Len Clay Stadium for 2024/25 Season Amid Baba Yara Closure

Asante Kotoko have temporarily relocated to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season following the closure of the Baba Yara Stadium. The Porcupine Warriors, who typically play their home games in Kumasi, were forced to find a new venue after the National Sports Authority (NSA) shut down Baba Yara Stadium for renovations.

The closure was prompted by public and stakeholder concerns over the poor condition of the pitch, which became evident during the Black Stars’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola. Although Ghana was granted permission to host the match, the team suffered a surprising defeat, and attention quickly shifted to the substandard pitch, leading the NSA to take action.

In response, CAF imposed a ban on the Baba Yara Stadium, meaning Ghana had to secure a different venue for their next home match against Sudan in October.

As a result of the stadium's closure, Kotoko has selected the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi as their temporary home, a venue seen as ideal for both the team and their supporters. Kotoko will kick off their season at the new location with a match against newly promoted Young Apostles on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
