Ghanaian artiste Mojae recently appeared on 3Music TV's 3hread Special to discuss his career, creative process, and the journey behind his latest single, BMW (Be My Wife). Mojae delved into the themes of the song, which narrates the lengths a man will go to win over a woman, even when she initially resists his advances.
When asked about his musical style, Mojae emphasized that he doesn’t confine himself to a single sound. While BMW embraces an Afrobeats vibe, his previous release, ADDICTED, showcased an Afro-fusion influence. This versatility, he explained, allows him to explore different genres and keeps his music fresh and engaging.
Mojae shared insights into the creative process behind BMW, revealing that the beat, produced by Classic Beats, was something he stumbled upon on YouTube. The beat immediately resonated with him, and after a quick shower, he set up his mini studio in his room to record a freestyle, which he says is his preferred method of creating music. “I can’t sit down and write, but freestyling just works for me,” he noted.
Mojae also expressed gratitude to the producer of BMW, highlighting how the collaboration was crucial in achieving the exact sound he envisioned. He was particularly meticulous about the production quality, and he feels the producer perfectly captured the essence of the track.
Discussing the broader message of BMW, Mojae encouraged listeners to embody perseverance and resilience, advising them not to take “no” for an answer. He hopes the song inspires others to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles.
Reflecting on his music career, Mojae shared that he began his professional journey while studying at the Ghana Institute of Journalism in 2014. However, after an initial stint, his career hit a lull, leading him to take a step back to reevaluate his path. Now, with a renewed focus and determination, he’s making a strong comeback, with BMW being his second release since his return.
Mojae mentioned that while he didn’t face major challenges in creating BMW, promoting the track has been demanding. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic and hopeful that his efforts will pay off, even though he’s careful not to set extreme expectations.
In conclusion, Mojae announced that he plans to release new music every month to keep his audience engaged. He also took the opportunity to motivate other up-and-coming artistes, encouraging them to stay committed to their craft and reassuring them that, in time, their hard work will be rewarded.
