Ghanaian actress and fashion icon Nana Akua Addo once again stole the spotlight at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), held on Saturday, May 10th, in Lagos, Nigeria. Renowned for her avant-garde fashion statements, Nana Akua unveiled a show-stopping ensemble she aptly dubbed “Fashion Meets Technology.”
Her futuristic gown, a collaboration with India’s Metalbender Studio and Ghanaian stylist Nicole Stylish, featured dynamic, fan-like elements that moved with her, creating a mesmerizing visual effect. The dress incorporated articulated rods and micro-hinges that animated thousands of pearlescent sequins, forming a halo around her shoulders. The base of the gown narrowed into a sleek silhouette adorned with hand-sewn white paillettes that shimmered under the lights.
Nana Akua’s vision was brought to life through a cross-continental collaboration. She served as the creative director and conceptualizer, working alongside Ghanaian creatives Yoli Koomson and Yartel Gh, and metal artist Saurabhsingh Rawat from Mumbai. The intricate ensemble, valued at approximately $11,000, was shipped from India to Ghana before making its debut on the AMVCA red carpet.
To complement the dramatic outfit, Nana Akua opted for a minimalist beauty look. Her hair was styled in a sleek bun, and her makeup featured subtle metallic highlights and a nude gloss, allowing the gown to take center stage.
Nana Akua Addo’s appearance at the AMVCA 2025 not only reaffirmed her status as a fashion trailblazer but also highlighted the seamless fusion of fashion and technology, setting a new benchmark for red carpet innovation.
