Ghana today bid farewell to former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who was laid to rest on Friday, November 28, 2025, after a solemn state funeral that drew dignitaries, political leaders, diplomats and hundreds of mourners.
The funeral rites, held at the Black Star Square, reflected her towering legacy as a women’s rights champion, political leader and former First Lady whose influence shaped key moments in Ghana’s democratic and social development.

The ceremony was marked by traditional rites, Christian liturgy, military honours and emotional tributes from family, statesmen, and former colleagues who praised her courage, boldness and decades-long advocacy for Ghanaian women through the 31st December Women’s Movement.
President, senior government officials, former presidents, Members of Parliament and prominent national figures were all present to pay their last respects.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has now been interred after the final burial rites were performed, bringing Ghana’s week-long period of mourning to a close.
