Foose festival Obroni Wawu October (OWO) in collaboration with the OR Foundation and Kanatamanto Market Community is playing host for the second edition of Ghana's first secondhand festival on the 29th of October 2023 at the Rawlings Park in Accra.
Obroni Wawu or Foose as is widely called, is the local name given to second hand thrift clothes imported from foreign countries. This year's event is themed The Adeɛyie Resurrection, loosely translated as 'to do better', in celebration of the Kantamanto Market as a leading global hub for reuse, repair, upcycling and remanufacturing. This year's event also seeks to call on all fashion enthusiasts to return to the roots of the Ghanaian culture of preservation, an endeavor by The Or Foundation to make it a point of pride for Ghanaians.
In addition to what the event has to offer, there will be numerous captivating performances, stunning runway shows and thought provoking conversations around the secondhand economy and reuse culture in Ghana.
The festival promises to be both exciting and educational with its ultimate goal to elevate the conversation on secondhand fashion and its relevance within Ghanaian fashion culture and the fashion industry globally. The OWO festival is also supported and partnered by 3Music TV, The Multimedia Group, TV3 and Yfm and powered by The Or Foundation, Kantamanto Used Clothing Association, Palm Moments, Ghana Food Movement, Mabilgu Foods, Suya Republik and The She Guards.
