OFM Requests YouTube to Remove Team Eternity's DEFE DEFE Over Alleged Infringement

Music record label OFM Computer World has taken legal action against Team Eternity Ghana, accusing their hit song DEFE DEFE of copyright infringement. In a letter to YouTube, OFM claims the song unauthorizedly reuses parts of the original DEFE DEFE by Hallelujah Voices, released in 2004. The label has requested YouTube to make the video private pending legal action, alleging that Team Eternity frequently samples other artists' music without permission.

The dispute began when Kwame Mickey, executive producer for Hallelujah Voices' DEFE DEFE, took to Facebook to allege that Team Eternity's song infringes on his copyright by using the DEFE DEFE line. While the songs have different rhythmic and melodic patterns, Mickey argues that the similarities in lyrical content constitute infringement.

The issue has sparked debate among music enthusiasts, with some defending Team Eternity's song as distinct and others agreeing that the shared lyrics constitute infringement. Team Eternity has yet to officially respond to the allegations. The incident highlights the importance of copyright protection in the music industry and the need for artises to respect the intellectual property rights of others.
