Presec Alumni Relive High School Nicknames and House Rivalries on The Big Conversation
Presec Alumni

In a lively episode of 3Music TV’s Big Conversation, alumni from the 2015 year group of Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (Presec) took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, sharing stories of their high school experiences, including the quirky nicknames and house dynamics that defined their time at the prestigious institution. The former students, now grown men, entertained the audience with tales of camaraderie and mischief, highlighting the unique culture of Presec.

The conversation kicked off with a “roll call” of nicknames, a hallmark of Presec’s boarding school life. Michael Loh, known as “Loh” due to his catchy surname, recalled how his simple moniker stuck even after graduation. Another alumnus, dubbed “Beho” after composer Beethoven, shared how his entertaining antics in class earned him the nickname, coined by a friend called “See Something.” The group laughed as they recounted “The Beast,” a nickname earned by one alumnus for his commanding presence in the dining hall, where he was unofficially the “custodian” of the space, striking both awe and fear among juniors.

House rivalries also took center stage, with House 4 (Aku House) and House 9 sparking playful debates. House 9 was described as the “neatest” and home to “DBs” (day boys or well-off students), with fancy cars lining up during visiting days, while House 4 was proudly dubbed the “Doob House” for its laid-back vibe under the guidance of housemaster Mr. Adudi. The alumni jokingly debated house characteristics, with one claiming House 8 was the “dirtiest,” prompting laughter and a call for confirmation from other Presecans watching the show.

The discussion painted a vivid picture of Presec’s vibrant culture, where nicknames and house identities fostered a sense of belonging and friendly competition. As the alumni prepare for their 10th-anniversary celebration in October or November 2025, including a bonfire and various events, their stories reflect the enduring bond formed during their high school years.
