The recent launch of Afronitaaa's dance academy sent ripples through the Ghanaian dance scene, but one notable absence sparked a flurry of online speculation: where was DWP Academy, Afronitaaa's former dance crew?
In a tell-all interview with popular Youtuber Kwadwo Sheldon, Quables, co-founder and talent manager of DWP Academy, sheds light on the situation. While expressing disappointment, Quables reveals a surprising turn of events that left him feeling disrespected.
According to Quables, DWP Academy received no formal invitation to the launch event. This was particularly surprising given Afronitaaa's long history with the crew. However, Quables throws a curveball – Afronitaaa did reach out, but only a day before the event!
The contact? A single member named Aba. While an invitation was offered, it came at the eleventh hour, bypassing the proper channels. As Quables explains, protocol dictates that invitations should be extended directly to him or other DWP Academy representatives.
This last-minute approach left Quables feeling hurt and questioning Afronitaaa's regard for the crew that had supported her for years. Despite the slight, Quables assures viewers that he harbors no animosity towards Afronitaaa. In fact, he expresses genuine happiness for her success since leaving DWP Academy.
The interview concludes with a powerful message of unity. Quables emphasizes that a proper invitation, even with short notice, likely would have resulted in DWP Academy's presence at the launch. This olive branch leaves the door open for a potential reconciliation and future collaboration between these talented dancers.
