Senegal has sealed their place in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Egypt in a tense semi-final encounter.
The decisive moment arrived in the 78th minute, when captain Sadio Mané rose to the occasion, finding the back of the net with a composed finish to break Egypt’s resistance. The goal proved enough to separate the two African heavyweights after a largely cagey contest dominated by tactical discipline and defensive organisation.

Played at a high intensity, the match saw Senegal enjoy greater control of possession, pressing aggressively and probing for openings. At the same time, Egypt remained compact and relied on counterattacks and moments of individual brilliance. Despite Egypt’s late push for an equaliser, Senegal’s backline held firm to see out the result.
The win sends Senegal into the AFCON 2025 final, keeping their title ambitions firmly alive and reinforcing their reputation as one of the continent’s most consistent sides in recent years. For Egypt, the defeat brings an end to their campaign, despite a resilient performance that underlined their competitive pedigree.
Senegal will now turn their focus to the final, where they will look to crown their impressive tournament run with continental glory.
