Ghanaian singer and songwriter Sofie recently appeared on 3Music TV's 3hread Special to discuss her latest music, career journey, and future projects. During the interview, Sofie delved into the backstory of the remix of her song IF YOU DON’T STOP, sharing insights into its creation and the evolution of her musical style over the years.
Sofie began by explaining the inspiration behind the remix of IF YOU DON’T STOP. After releasing the original version in 2021, Sofie sent the song to music producer, Shane who created a new beat with the same lyrics. This sparked the idea for a remix, leading Sofie to collaborate with artistes EsstheLegend and Juma Mufasa. Despite the process taking two years, the remix was finally released, showcasing a fresh take on the original track.
Discussing her collaborators on the remix, Sofie revealed that Shane has been a long-time partner in her music, even playing keys for her band in Los Angeles. She reached out to EsstheLegend eight months before the song’s release and quickly received a verse, which was followed by advice from DJ Kess to include Juma Mufasa just before the track was finalized.
When asked about the message behind IF YOU DON’T STOP, Sofie explained that the song isn’t meant to convey a specific message but is more of an expression of young love and the excitement that comes with it. She described the track as a summer jam, perfect for long trips and fun moments, offering listeners a fun and carefree vibe.
Sofie also reflected on her career journey, noting how much has changed since she started making music in 2016. "I was just a child when I began," she said, highlighting her evolution from a singer-songwriter with an acoustic sound to an artiste blending Afro and R&B influences. Over her eight years in the industry, Sofie has opened for big names like Stonebwoy and headlined solo shows, marking significant growth in her career.
As for the challenges faced while creating the IF YOU DON’T STOP remix, Sofie mentioned that the only real obstacle was the lengthy process, but she believes that everything happens in its own time. She expressed hope that the remix will resonate with listeners and that they’ll enjoy the new version as much as the original.
In closing, Sofie expressed heartfelt gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support over the past eight years. "Thank you for streaming my music, buying concert tickets, and supporting me through this journey," she said. She also encouraged her fans to stay tuned for more music and to follow her on social media for updates on her upcoming projects.
