ThankGod Omori, popularly known as TG Omori, is a music video director and cinematographer from Nigeria. On Thursday, February 9th, 2023, TG Omori took to his twitter to share thoughts on starting to collect a 10% royalty on the videos he shoots to support the life he desires.
TG Omori is known for his colourful and elaborate music videos which lead him to charging exorbitantly for his craft. He's also created a name for himself as a creative who isn't afraid to voice his thoughts, no matter how divisive they may sound. "In due time music video directors will be getting at least 10% royalties from the streaming income of every music video directed for their moral contribution to the visuals. With this I can successfully buy my dream island and private jets," the tweet reads.
The tweet has sparked a debate, with some accusing him of reaping what he never sowed. Others believe that because music videos add to a song's popularity, it's only fair for the video director to share in the royalty.
TG Omori, true to his character, is unmoved by the reactions, and it remains to be seen how his plan will be welcomed by the artistes and labels who support him. TG Omori has directed music videos for new generation recording artistes like as Olamide, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Black Sherif, Asake, Kiss Daniel, and Fireboy DML since his inception into the music scene.
