The Culture Squad Calls for a Broader Vision Beyond Detty December

The Culture Squad argued that while December naturally thrives due to global holidays and festive energy, Ghana’s tourism potential spans culture, history, cuisine, nature and education. Elements that deserve structured attention throughout the year.

Some Squad proposed positioning Detty December as the climax of an intentional, year-long tourism calendar rather than the sole defining experience. Under this model, other months could spotlight literary arts, food tourism, heritage sites, adventure travel and traditional festivals, offering visitors a deeper and more balanced engagement with Ghana.

The Culture Squad also emphasised inclusivity, noting that not all visitors are drawn to nightlife and large-scale entertainment. A diversified tourism strategy, they argued, would better serve travellers seeking calm, reflection, learning and cultural immersion.

As Ghana continues to shape its global image, the discussion highlighted the need for long-term planning, cultural storytelling and tourism development that extends beyond December.
