South African global star Tyla and American rap star Ice Spice lit up the stage as co-hosts of the 38th annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The dynamic duo brought energy, humor, and a lot of slime to the family-friendly celebration of youth pop culture.
Tyla made history as the first African artiste to co-host the show, and the night got even better when she took home the Favourite Global Music Star (Africa) award. She opened the show alongside Ice Spice with a vibrant “Best of Summer” dance celebration, featuring DJ Benny Blanco, dancers, and even a surprise appearance by Smurfette.
Throughout the show, Tyla and Ice Spice delivered fun skits, introduced performances, and didn’t shy away from the ultimate Kids’ Choice tradition getting slimed. Tyla took it like a champ, laughing and telling the audience, “Just do it,” before being doused in green goo.
With their bold fashion, confident stage presence, and effortless chemistry, Tyla and Ice Spice proved they were the perfect pair to host one of the biggest youth events of the year showing how music, fun, and representation can come together on a global stage.
