As California wildfires continue to leave devastation in their wake, filmmaker and philanthropist Tyler Perry has voiced his outrage at insurance companies for canceling policies, leaving many families without support.
In an emotional statement, Tyler Perry described watching a daughter desperately using a garden hose to protect her 90-year-old parents’ home after their insurance was canceled. “It was gut-wrenching to me,” he said.
Perry criticized insurance companies for profiting off communities for years, only to cancel millions of policies when people need them most. “People who have paid premiums all their lives are left with nothing because of pure greed,” he added.
While sharing his prayers for those affected, Perry revealed that he is exploring ways to help as many families as possible in the aftermath of this tragedy. His message sheds light on the struggles of countless families now left without homes or recourse during a time of immense hardship.
The wildfires, which have caused widespread destruction, continue to highlight the urgent need for accountability and systemic reform in the insurance industry.
