Tyler, The Creator Secures Fourth Consecutive Billboard 200 No. 1 with DON’T TAP THE GLASS
Tyler, The Creator
Tyler, The Creator has claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 for the fourth consecutive time with his latest album, DON’T TAP THE GLASS, debuting at No. 1 with 197,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. during its first week, according to Luminate. The surprise, dance-influenced album, released on an unconventional Monday, July 21, achieved this feat with just four days of tracking, driven largely by 128,000 album sales through various physical formats like CD, vinyl, and branded box sets available on the artiste’s website. The 10-track, 28-minute project, described by Tyler as made for “dancing, driving, running, any type of movement… only at full volume,” knocked off Travis Scott’s JACKBOYS 2 from the top spot, though it fell short of initial projections of 215,000 units. The album’s success follows the artiste’s 2024 chart-topper CHROMAKOPIA, which debuted with a career-best 299,000 units. DON’T TAP THE GLASS, announced just days before its release with cryptic social media teasers and an art installation at Tyler’s Brooklyn concert, marks his eighth top 10 album on the Billboard 200. Fans praised tracks like GET RIGHT, a Pharrell-produced collaboration with Doechii, though the song was notably absent from the final tracklist. The Billboard 200 top 10 also saw strong debuts from Jessie Murph’s SEX HYSTERIA at No. 8 and BTS’ PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE (LIVE) at No. 10, while Morgan Wallen’s I’M THE PROBLEM climbed to No. 2. Tyler’s rapid release cycle, just nine months after CHROMAKOPIA, has sparked excitement, with fans on social media speculating about future projects from the ever-unpredictable artiste.
