Anabel Rose, the sensational Ghanaian-Filipino artiste, recently graced 3Music TV's 3hread Special, hosted by Kojo Trip. Known for featuring top-tier talents, 3hread Special spotlighted Anabel, celebrating her extraordinary journey in the music industry.
Welcomed with enthusiasm, Anabel captivated the audience with insights into her career, achievements, and creative process. Kojo Trip praised her for an impressive year, highlighting notable performances, including a memorable show at the Norwegian Embassy, and her nominations at the 2024 3Music Awards for Emerging Woman of the Year and Best Alternative Song of the Year. Reflecting on the recognition, Anabel admitted she was "surprised but proud," acknowledging her rapid rise within just a year of starting her professional music career.
Anabel shared her deeply personal journey, revealing that fear initially held her back from pursuing music professionally. “If I never tried, I wouldn’t fail,” she confessed, explaining how her eventual leap of faith was inspired by the resilience of Accra’s underground music community. Joining the creative collective 99 Phaces was another turning point, giving her a sense of belonging and collaboration.
“99 Phaces is about doing the hard music journey together,” she explained, crediting the group’s founder, Jasper, for his vision and support. She described the collective as a melting pot of talents, including artistes, producers, and designers, all striving to redefine Ghana’s creative landscape.
Anabel also reflected on her early days juggling a demanding 9-to-5 job with evening performances at Accra’s top venues like Kempinski and Honeysuckle. “It was hectic but exciting,” she said, adding that her transition to freelancing allowed her to fully embrace music while leveraging her background in digital media and creative direction.
The conversation turned to her EP, SOMETHING ABOUT A ROSE, a six-track project featuring her previously released hits LOVE ME OR DIE, DND, and LUNGS. She explained that the EP encapsulates her journey of self-discovery and musical exploration. “People can’t place my sound, and honestly, neither can I fully, but I know there’s something about me,” she remarked, emphasizing the project’s intentionality and personal depth.
The whimsical cover art for the EP, featuring life-sized sculptures and intricate designs, symbolizes her growth and creativity. Anabel described it as a celebration of her songs, each representing emotions and milestones in her life.
With her distinct alternative sound and magnetic performances, Anabel Rose is carving a unique path in Ghana’s music scene. From her live shows to her bold musical experiments, she continues to captivate fans and critics alike. SOMETHING ABOUT A ROSE is out on all streaming platforms
