Veteran Actor, Mawuli Semevor Passes Away After Fire Accident

Veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away at the age of 63. He succumbed to injuries sustained in a domestic fire incident at his residence in Adenta SSNIT Flats on February 7th, 2025. The fire reportedly started in the hall while he was asleep in the bedroom. Upon escaping the blaze, he collapsed outside and was rushed to Ridge Hospital in Accra, where he received treatment for burns covering approximately 44% of his body and respiratory injuries affecting his breathing. Despite medical efforts, Semevo passed away on February 20th, 2025.  

Mawuli Semevo was renowned for his exceptional talent and versatility in both stage and film acting. His notable works include performances in Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA. His passing is a significant loss to Ghana’s creative arts community, with tributes pouring in from colleagues and fans alike.  

In the wake of the incident, Judith Addison of Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting burn survivors, highlighted the severity of Semevo’s condition, noting that his life was “hanging in the balance” due to the extensive injuries.  

The Ghanaian entertainment industry mourns the loss of a distinguished actor whose contributions have left an indelible mark on both stage and screen.
