Ghanaian artiste Whitnee Dee recently appeared on 3Music TV's 3hread Special to discuss the inspiration and trajectory of her music career. In a candid interview, Whitnee revealed that she began writing music at the early age of 15, a pivotal moment that motivated her to enter the studio and pursue her passion for music with determination.
Whitnee spoke about her song GIFTED, sharing that her journey from the past year inspired its creation. "I wrote the song to motivate myself and others listening to me," she said. "Lift your head up to the sky, don't give up, just keep going." She emphasized that her personal life and experiences growing up have significantly shaped her music.
Whitnee, a Ghanaian born in the United States, incorporates rap and afrobeats into her music, genres she grew up listening to. She proudly infuses the local language into both her afrobeats and rap to represent Ghana authentically.
When asked about upcoming projects, Whitnee expressed her excitement for her UNAPOLOGETIC EP. She shared insights into the creative process behind GIFTED, explaining that she first listened to the beat and then began writing lyrics that echoed the message of perseverance and resilience.
Discussing challenges in her career, Whitnee highlighted the difficulty of knowing whom to trust and work with in the early stages. However, she is continuously growing, finding herself, and building her team. She emphasized her selectivity in collaborators, choosing to work with those who understand and share her vision and end goal.
Whitnee also reflected on her achievements, expressing pride in her performances at Stonebwoy's 5TH Dimension concert at the Accra Sports Stadium and the Eat and Drink Music Festival. She credited artistes like Efya and Becca for influencing her afrobeats style, while Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Latto have shaped her rap music.
Concluding the interview, Whitnee asked fans to stay tuned for the UNAPOLOGETIC EP and continue supporting her. She assured fans that greatness is coming soon, leaving fans eagerly anticipating her next musical endeavors.
