In a landmark celebration of Afrobeats music, Billboard has unveiled its first-ever 50 Greatest Afrobeats Songs of All Time, with 2Baba’s AFRICAN QUEEN claiming the top spot. Notably, Wizkid’s breakout single OJUELEGBA was ranked as the second-greatest Afrobeats song ever, cementing its status as a defining anthem of the genre.

Released in 2014 as part of Wizkid’s album Ayo, OJUELEGBA serves as an autobiographical homage to his roots in the eponymous Lagos neighborhood. The song candidly chronicles his early struggles as an underground artiste, an emotional and honest narrative that resonated with a wide audience.

The song’s impact was amplified by a star-studded remix featuring Drake and Skepta, which debuted on OVO Sound Radio in 2015. This remix played a crucial role in projecting Afrobeats into the global spotlight, accelerating Wizkid’s international breakthrough.
