Young Girl Goes Viral For Defending Mother Against False Theft Accusation

A young child has gone viral after standing up for her mother, who she claimed was falsely accused of stealing sunglasses by the police. In a widely-shared TikTok video, the mother and daughter are seen outside a store, with the child yelling at NYPD officers, demanding they left her mother alone. The video describes the theft suspect as a Black female with long braids and a white shirt, a description that did not match the stopped woman. “What glasses did I steal?” the mother questioned an officer. The girl then criticized the police for their alleged mistake and accused her aunt of stealing the sunglasses instead. She repeatedly told the officers to leave her mother alone, and in her frustration, she exclaimed, “On my dead father she don't have nothing,” and even threatened, “I'm going to kill somebody”.
In a follow-up video, the girl continued to plead with the officers as they handcuffed her mother. The two embraced as the mother was placed in a police car. 
The outcome after the videos remains unclear, but the incident has garnered over 1 million views on TikTok as of Tuesday, May 28.
