The Recording Academy has unveiled the nominees for the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 GRAMMY Awards, spotlighting some of the continent’s most influential and dynamic artistes.
Leading the nominations is Burna Boy with his soulful single LOVE, a track that reinforces his mastery of Afro-fusion and emotionally charged storytelling. Davido follows closely with WITH YOU featuring Omah Lay, a smooth blend of Afrobeats and heartfelt melodies that has resonated widely with fans.
From East Africa, Eddy Kenzo earns recognition alongside Mehran Matin for their inspirational collaboration HOPE & LOVE, while Ayra Starr teams up with Wizkid on GIMME DAT, a vibrant anthem celebrating the new wave of Afrobeats brilliance. Rounding off the category is South Africa’s Tyla, whose single PUSH 2 START continues to affirm her growing global presence following her breakout success with WATER.
The Best African Music Performance category, established to honour the depth and diversity of African soundscapes, remains a testament to the continent’s expanding influence on the global music stage.
The 2026 GRAMMY Awards yet another milestone celebration of African excellence and creativity in world music.
