21 Savage Warned Drake Against Kendrick Lamar Beef

21 Savage has revealed that he advised Drake not to dive headfirst into his highly publicized lyrical war with Kendrick Lamar, insisting the odds were stacked against him from the start. The rapper opened up during a three-hour conversation with Big Bank while promoting his new album, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS?, released on Friday (Dec. 12).

According to 21 Savage, the feud, now considered one of Hip-Hop’s most explosive modern-day clashes, was a battle Drake was never going to win in the eyes of the public. He explained that fan sentiment played a major role, arguing that the culture had already subconsciously sided with Kendrick long before the lyrical blows began.

“Fans were pulling for Drake to lose,” 21 Savage said, stressing that the emotional investment of listeners made it an unwinnable fight, regardless of who might have out-rapped the other.

The discussion also touched on Drake’s recent tension with producer Metro Boomin. While 21 Savage didn’t share many details, he expressed confidence that the two would reconcile sooner rather than later, calling their fallout temporary.

He further emphasised that ego and passion for the craft fuelled much of the Kendrick–Drake exchange. Despite the intensity, 21 Savage believes both rappers share a genuine love for Hip-Hop, which ultimately drove them to defend their artistry.

As WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS? continues to make waves, 21 Savage’s candid take adds a new layer to one of 2024’s most dissected rap storylines, underscoring the cultural forces that shape rap beef outcomes beyond just bars and bravado.
