Cynthia Erivo, the Grammy and Tony-winning star, has shared candid insights about her role as Elphaba in the highly anticipated WICKED: FOR GOOD, the second part of Universal’s film adaptation, set for release on November 21, 2025. In a heartfelt interview, Erivo discussed the film’s emotional depth, describing it as a “beautiful end” to Elphaba and Glinda’s story, alongside co-star Ariana Grande. She also opened up about her personal journey, coming out as queer in 2021 and embracing her identity, which resonates with the film’s themes of acceptance and self-discovery.

Fans have praised Erivo’s authenticity, with excitement building for WICKED: FOR GOOD after the first film’s record-breaking $114 million domestic opening in November 2024. Erivo’s creative momentum extends to her new album, I FORGIVE YOU, announced for release in August 2025. The album, previewed by the single I AM, blends soul, R&B, and gospel, reflecting her experiences of love, healing, and identity.

Following her 2018 debut album CH. 1 VS. 1, Erivo’s latest work promises raw vulnerability, with tracks inspired by her stage and screen journey. Her performance in WICKED, lauded for its vocal power, has heightened anticipation for I FORGIVE YOU, which she describes as a “musical diary” of forgiveness and growth.

The convergence of WICKED: FOR GOOD and I FORGIVE YOU marks a pivotal moment for Erivo, affirming her as a multifaceted talent. Her openness about her queer identity, has inspired fans, with the album’s themes echoing Elphaba’s defiance.

While some express concern about the film meeting the first part’s hype, Erivo’s commitment to authenticity shines through. With nominations for Oscars and Grammys, she continues to break barriers, following roles in HARRIET and PINOCCHIO.
