On Saturday afternoon, legendary actor and philanthropist Denzel Washington was among nineteen distinguished individuals honored with the prestigious Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States.
The award ceremony, led by President Joe Biden, celebrated individuals who have made “exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors,” according to a statement from the White House.
