Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has boldly forecasted a decisive 57.3% victory for NDC’s Flagbearer and former President, John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming 2024 elections.
While Dr. Boamah has not explicitly outlined the criteria underpinning his prediction, his confidence in Mahama’s win is evident. In a recent post, he declared, "Who Jah Bless, John Dramani Mahama 57.3%. Ninety-nine days to a 24-hour economy! Let’s unlock thousands of jobs and boost our economy by operating key sectors round the clock. Vote for a thriving Ghana."
This statement has ignited widespread discussion on social media, eliciting a variety of reactions from both supporters and critics. Adding fuel to the debate, several polls conducted by various organizations, including Global InfoAnalytics, have similarly positioned Mahama as the frontrunner for the 2024 elections.
However, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) remains undeterred by these predictions. They have dismissed the projections as biased and misleading, asserting their confidence in retaining power. The NPP has criticized the polls and the entities behind them, labeling them as overly optimistic and out of touch with the reality on the ground.
As the election date draws closer, the political climate in Ghana continues to heat up, with both major parties ramping up their efforts to sway voters. The 2024 elections are shaping up to be a fiercely contested battle, with high stakes for both the NDC and NPP as they vie for control of the nation’s future.
