Canadian rapper Drake is making headlines after his triple album ICEMAN recorded 140 million global streams on Spotify within its first day of release.
The project has become the platform’s most-streamed album of 2026 so far, while also topping music charts in 78 countries around the world.
The album’s strong debut quickly pushed Drake back to the center of global music conversations, with fans praising the size of the release and its early streaming success.
However, excitement around the album also shifted online after streams reportedly dropped sharply on the second day following the release.
At the same time, several posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, that shared clips from the album were hit with DMCA copyright takedowns.
The takedowns were reportedly issued by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, acting on behalf of record label members, including Universal Music Group, Drake’s distributor.
The move has sparked reactions across social media, with many fans questioning why the copyright complaints arrived during Drake’s ongoing legal dispute with Universal Music Group.
The legal tension is also linked to Drake’s highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar over diss tracks that have dominated music discussions in recent months.
Despite the controversy surrounding the takedowns and legal battles, ICEMAN continues to perform strongly on streaming platforms, keeping Drake at the top of global charts as fans closely watch what happens next in one of the music industry’s biggest stories of the year.
