Richie Mensah has announced that Lynx Entertainment is no longer operating as a traditional record label but will now focus fully on music distribution and related services.

The celebrated Ghanaian music executive made the revelation during a recent interview, explaining that the company is shifting its business direction after years of building and managing some of Ghana’s biggest music stars.

Founded by Richie Mensah, Lynx Entertainment played a major role in shaping Ghana’s modern music scene, discovering and nurturing acts such as KiDi, Kuami Eugene, MzVee and many others.

According to Richie Mensah, the company’s new focus will be on distribution, helping artistes get their music onto digital streaming platforms and expanding their reach globally instead of signing and managing talents directly as a label.

The announcement has sparked massive conversations on X, with many music fans expressing concern over what the decision means for Ghana’s music industry.

One user wrote:

“When the biggest label in your country decides not to be a label again, it's a big problem for the industry. Our mentors don't pivot so we struggle to even get where they got to. It's too sad.”

Another fan reacted:

A third user questioned the growing trend in the industry, asking:

The reactions reflect growing concerns among music lovers about the sustainability of artist management and talent development in Ghana’s music ecosystem, especially at a time when several entertainment companies are shifting towards digital distribution and independent artiste support models.

Despite the concerns, others believe the move could open a new chapter for Lynx Entertainment as the music business continues to evolve in the streaming era.
