Joseph Paintsil Kicks Off Music Journey with EMERGENCY EP and MERCI BEAUCOUP Video
Joseph Paintsil

Ghanaian footballer Joseph Paintsil, popular for tearing it up on the field with LA Galaxy and the Ghana Black Stars, has just stepped into the music scene with his first-ever EP, EMERGENCY. The 7-track project hit streaming platforms on April 4, 2025, giving fans a taste of his creative side beyond football. Leading the charge is the catchy single MERCI BEAUCOUP featuring Ghanaian rap stars Kweku Flick and Joe Kay, paired with a lively music video that’s already turning heads.
Emergency EP (Tracklist) Paintsil, who made headlines last year by scoring a key goal in LA Galaxy’s 2024 MLS Cup win against the New York Red Bulls, couldn’t hide his excitement about the release.EMERGENCY brings Paintsil’s high-energy vibe and realness, mixing styles into something fresh for fans across the globe.
Kweku Flick The standout track, MERCI BEAUCOUP—French for "thank you very much"—blends Paintsil’s distinct voice with Kweku Flick’s raw rap edge and Joe Kay’s smooth melodies. It’s a song that feels like a big thank-you, maybe to the journey that’s taken him from the pitch to the studio. The music video, which dropped the same day as the EP, shows the three artistes bringing the heat with city vibes and slick dance moves. Shot with a movie-like feel, it’s got an upbeat flow that’s racking up views on YouTube, where fans are loving how well the trio clicks.

The EMERGENCY EP packs seven tracks: BLESSINGS, NOBODY, REJOICE, MONALISA, FINE LIKE YOU, HIGHER (with Kweku Flick), and MERCI BEAUCOUP (with Kweku Flick and Joe Kay). Teaming up with Kweku Flick, a Ghana Music Award nominee, and Joe Kay, Paintsil connects local talent to his worldwide stage.
This isn’t Paintsil’s first go at music. Growing up in Fadama, Accra, he’s been into it for years, dropping singles like KOTOSA in 2022 and YAA SE in 2023. With EMERGENCY, he’s following in the footsteps of Ghanaian stars like Asamoah Gyan, showing he’s got skills that stretch way beyond the game.

Fans are all over it online, especially on X, where they’re hyping up the EP and telling everyone to give it a listen. The video’s adding to the hype, with visuals that match the song’s energy and show off Paintsil’s off-field charm.
While he’s healing up from a quad injury and gearing up for the MLS season, EMERGENCY is a big move for Paintsil — a statement of who he is, tying his love for football and music into something that’s already got people talking. With MERCI BEAUCOUP out front, Joseph Paintsil’s EMERGENCY is set to leave a mark, proving he’s a name to watch in more ways than one.
