Nigerian music star Rema recently discussed his latest album, HE IS, in a short interview with MTV. The album has been nominated for Best Global Music Album at the upcoming awards.

In the interview, Rema emphasized the importance of innovation in his music, stating, “Being part of the new generation… it can only be a new generation if it’s something new, if it brings a breath of fresh air.”  

He also highlighted his commitment to honoring the roots of Afrobeats, mentioning that his last album was about recognizing the foundation of the genre.  

Rema acknowledged the challenges of introducing new sounds, noting that it requires sacrifices in terms of numbers and public perception.  

The nomination of HE IS for Best Global Music Album underscores Rema’s innovative approach and dedication to evolving the Afrobeats genre.
