Ronald Fenty, the father of global music icon Rihanna, has passed away at the age of 70 in Los Angeles following a brief illness. Family members, including Rihanna and her brother Rajad Fenty, were reportedly present at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center during his final moments.

Born in Barbados, Ronald Fenty was a warehouse supervisor and the father of six children, including Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty. He shared three children, Rihanna, Rajad, and Rorrey, with his ex-wife Monica Braithwaite.

Rihanna and her father shared a complex relationship, marked by periods of estrangement due to his struggles with substance abuse and the divorce from her mother when she was 14. Despite these challenges, they managed to reconcile in recent years. In a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna acknowledged the difficulties but also highlighted the positive aspects of their relationship, stating, “He taught me everything, and as awful as he was to my mom at times, it didn’t compare to how great he was as a father.”

In 2019, Rihanna filed a lawsuit against her father, accusing him of using her name and brand without permission through his company, Fenty Entertainment. The lawsuit was later dismissed in 2021.

Ronald Fenty had expressed pride in his daughter’s accomplishments and joy in being a grandfather. Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, have two sons, RZA and Riot, and are expecting their third child.

As of now, Rihanna has not made a public statement regarding her father’s passing.
