Nigerian afrobeats star Runtown has thrilled fans with the announcement of his upcoming album, SOUNDGOD FEST IV, slated for release on June 6, 2025. The Soundgod, who has been relatively quiet since his 2022 album SIGNS, marks his anticipated return with the fourth installment of his acclaimed Soundgod Fest series, following SOUNDGOD FEST RELOADED in 2021, which featured artistes like Bella Shmurda and Darkovibes.

Known for hits like MAD OVER YOU and FOR LIFE, Runtown’s latest project is expected to continue his tradition of blending afrobeats, reggae, and dancehall, potentially featuring new collaborations that reflect his pan-African vision. Fans are excited, with many predicting a summer-defining release that could further elevate Runtown’s global influence.

However, Runtown’s announcement comes amidst lingering questions about his career trajectory and past challenges, including his 2018 legal battle with Eric Many Records over contractual disputes, which highlighted the pressures Nigerian artistes face in maintaining creative control.

While SOUNDGOD FEST IV  promises to be a celebration of African music, some fans express cautious optimism, noting Runtown’s sporadic releases in recent years and hoping for consistency following this drop. As the June 6 release date approaches, the album could either affirm Runtown’s legacy as a pioneer in afrobeats or underscore the industry’s ongoing struggle to support its veterans amidst a wave of newer artistes dominating the scene.
