Pop star Sabrina Carpenter is gearing up to release her brand-new single, MANCHILD, this Thursday, June 5th , 2025, at 8 p.m. ET.
The singer began teasing the track last week with a nostalgic, ‘80s-inspired VHS clip posted on her social media platforms. In it, she’s seen hitchhiking through a desert before the screen fades to black with the words “Oh boy,” setting the tone for what appears to be a cheeky, pointed anthem.
MANCHILD sees Carpenter teaming up once again with Grammy-winning producer Jack Antonoff, who previously worked with her on last year’s hit Please Please Please. Their continued collaboration hints at another radio-ready pop gem, this time with a sharper edge.
Adding fuel to the fire, promotional billboards began appearing across Texas with cryptic quotes like “I swear they choose me, I’m not choosing them” — sparking fan speculation about the song’s inspiration. Some believe it may subtly reference Sabrina Carpenter’s past relationship with actor Barry Keoghan, though the singer has remained mum on the matter.
As part of the rollout, a special 7-inch vinyl edition of MANCHILD is now available for preorder. It includes a cleverly titled B-side: “Inside of Your Head When You’ve Just Won an Argument with a Man,” further hinting at the single’s unapologetic tone.
MANCHILD marks Sabrina Carpenter’s first new release since the deluxe edition of her acclaimed Short n’ Sweet album dropped earlier this year. With a growing fanbase and a string of chart-topping hits, this release is set to heat up the summer and continue her winning streak.
