Nigerian music powerhouse Asake has made history as the first African artiste to headline the United States edition of Red Bull Symphonic. This globally acclaimed live-music series pairs leading contemporary artistes with full symphony orchestras.
The landmark performance, titled Red Bull Symphonic featuring Asake, was held on Saturday, 8 November 2025, at the prestigious Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. The one-night-only concert presented a refined reinterpretation of Asake’s celebrated Afrobeats catalogue through orchestral instrumentation and classical composition.
Red Bull Symphonic is designed to bridge modern soundscapes with classical artistry. Under the direction of conductor Glenn Alexander II and arrangements by Anthony Parnther, Asake’s signature fusion of Afrobeats, Fújì and Amapiano was transformed into an elegant symphonic experience.
Audience members were treated to new orchestral renditions of chart-topping hits including LONELY AT THE TOP, SUNGBA, PEACE BE ON TO YOU and AMAPIANO, each layered with strings, brass and percussion. The result was a dynamic showcase that merged Yoruba melodies with classical depth, a sound both rooted in tradition and globally resonant.
Asake’s headlining role represents a significant cultural milestone, a moment that situates African music within the global high-arts dialogue. His inclusion in the Red Bull Symphonic series underscores the genre’s evolution and international relevance, reaffirming Afrobeats as one of the most influential movements in contemporary music.
Held within the grandeur of the Kings Theatre, the production’s visual aesthetic mirrored the music’s sophistication. The stage design blended orchestral formality with modern African vibrancy.
Guests arrived embracing the event’s invitation to merge glamour with culture. The atmosphere was both celebratory and reverent. An acknowledgement of the artistic progress African music continues to make on the world stage.
Beyond its musical achievement, Asake’s participation in Red Bull Symphonic marks a symbolic shift for African artistry. It reflects a generation of musicians who are not only charting global success but also expanding the spaces where African stories can be told.
The concert stands as a reminder that creativity from the continent is boundless, capable of innovation that challenges stereotypes and redefines artistic excellence.
From his early beginnings in Lagos to performing alongside a full orchestra in New York, Asake’s journey encapsulates the global reach of modern African music. His Red Bull Symphonic debut solidifies his reputation as one of Afrobeats’ most transformative figures, and a symbol of how far the genre has come.
As orchestral strings met Yoruba rhythm, the message was unmistakable, African music is not confined by genre, space or expectation. It belongs everywhere.
