Second National Day Of Prayer and Thanksgiving Marked

Second National Day Of Prayer and Thanksgiving Marked
Prez. John Mahama

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving has been observed in Ghana marking the second edition since its introduction in 2025.

Coinciding with Republic Day on July 1, the day seeks to unite Ghanaians of all faith and express appreciation to God for the abundant blessings in the country.

This year's observation is on the theme, Resetting Our Values To Build The Ghana We Want and the two major religions in Ghana, Christianity and Islam are lined up for services.

The Christian service was led by the Chairman of the church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye together with other Christian denomination leaders.

Delivering a sermon centered on the theme, Apostle Nyamekye called on Ghanaians to reflect on the goodness of God, embrace shared values, and work together to build a better and stronger nation.

President John Dramani Mahama, delivering his speech expressed immense gratitude to God for His blessings on the nation.

"We thank God for this day, we thank him for his protection, we thank him for his mercy and all of us and our country. And may he continue to have mercy on us and may he continue to grant Ghana exceptional favour," he prayed.

The president also reminded citizens that beyond prayer, there is a responsibility to be upheld by all in building a country.

"Our national journey reminds us of an enduring truth: faith without works is dead, and prayer without responsibility cannot transform an economy. Hope without discipline cannot create prosperity," he added.

Attending the service were various clergy leaders including Archbishop Duncan Williams, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, among others.

Gospel artistes Nacee, Diana Hamilton and Daughters of Glorious Jesus also brought their spirit-filled songs and performances to the event.

The Muslim service was also held at the National Mosque at Kanda, led by the Chief Imam Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.
